BACKGROUND
In the past, Marriott Bonvoy Free Night Award certificates could not be combined with points, so their equivalent point value represented the maximum number of Marriott Bonvoy points you could redeem them for. Example: A Marriott 50K Free Night could be used towards 1 night at a property that had a point redemption value of 50,000 points or less, and any unused portion would not roll over or be saved in any way. That has now changed! You can combine a Marriott Free Night certificate with up to 15,000 points during the regular award night booking process!
HOW TO REDEEM MARRIOTT FREE NIGHT CERTIFICATE + TOP OFF (Up to 15K Points) // HOW DO I USE MY MARRIOTT FREE NIGHT CERTIFICATE?
1. Log into your Marriott Bonvoy account
2. Search for a location by date and select the “Use Points/Certificates” option
3. Find a Marriott hotel you want to book and select “View Rates”
4. Choose an eligible room and click on the “Select” button
5. You’ll then be shown something like “You have 1 Free Night Award(s) eligible for this stay” (or however many eligible certificates you have)
6. If the hotel has a point redemption value costing more than the value of the certificate, you’ll see an option to select “Redeem these awards and 5,000 points” (or whatever the required point value is beyond the certificate value).
7. Click on “Book Now” and go through the regular booking process
