DESCRIPTION
I’ll walk you through the EXACT process of how to redeem your Marriott Free Night Award certificate. Let’s begin with some great news: IT’S EASY! The Marriott Free Night Award (FNA) certificates are NOT the same as Marriott Bonvoy points, but they do have an equivalent value (i.e. your Marriott free night certificate may be worth up to 35,000 points or 50,000 points). So if a night costs 45,000 points and you use your 50,000-point certificate, then you will NOT have 5,000 points left. Instead, the entire certificate will be used. 2. Marriott free night awards expire 1 year after the date they’re issued. So, use them up first before you use your points. 3. The following CHASE Marriott credit cards are currently available for signup and issue free night award certificates: Marriott Bonvoy Boundless credit card (35K cert.). That’s it for now. The Marriott Bonvoy Bold credit card has no annual fee and does not issue an annual free night award. Other Chase Marriott credit cards that also issue FNA certificates but are no longer available to new applicants include the Marriott Bonvoy Premier Plus Business card (35K cert.) and the JP Morgan Ritz Carlton Rewards card (50K cert.). Note that the Chase Marriott Premier Plus Rewards card was converted into the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card. 4. The following AMEX Marriott credit cards are currently available for signup and issue free night award certificates: Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card (50K cert) and the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card (35K cert.). The personal Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card (discontinued) also issues a 35K certificate if you have it. MARRIOTT AWARD CHART / MARRIOTT REDEMPTION CHART https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/pointsGridPopUp.mi HOW TO REDEEM MARRIOTT CERTIFICATE 1. Log into your Marriott Bonvoy Account 2. Search for the Marriott hotel at which you’d like to stay 3. Select the option to Use Points / Certificates 4. Go through normal booking process as if you were going to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points 5. During checkout at the “Review Reservation Details” page, you’ll see a message box that says “You have eligible e-certificates that match your reservation.” 6. Ensure your certificate is selected and complete the rest of the booking process as normal. NOTES - Marriott will automatically choose the eligible free night award certificate that expires FIRST - If you have 2 or more eligible Marriott certificates, you’ll be able to apply them all to book a multi-night stay. - If you have 35K and 50K night certificates, and you’re booking a room that costs 40K points, then Marriott will automatically show only your 50K certificate because the lower value ones wouldn’t not be eligible. If you’ve ever wondered how to save money on travel, then getting some hotel credit cards that come with annual free night awards in the form of certificates or points are a GREAT way to make that happen. If you want to earn Marriott Bonvoy points quickly, I suggest getting Chase credit cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points, including the: Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Freedom Unlimited, and the Chase Freedom Flex. All of these cards earn Chase UR points, and as long as you have one of the Sapphire-branded cards (or the Chase Ink Business Preferred), then you can transfer all of your combined points directly into the Marriott Bonvoy program.
