There are SO MANY different credit card rewards, airline miles, and hotel point currencies out there, so it can be difficult to choose which one(s) to earn! This video will look at the MOST VALUABLE rewards points and miles across the top loyalty programs to help you identify which ones could give you the best value (and therefore save money on travel)!
Of course, subjectivity is involved here. Many of the rewards programs have variable and dynamic pricing, meaning they can change at any time and can differ not only from one program to another, but also from one itinerary to another.
That’s why we usually mention average values when it comes to “what are points and miles worth?”
In general, the MOST VALUABLE points are those that are transferrable AND flexible. Transferrable means you can convert them into airline miles or hotel points of other partner programs. Flexible means you can also redeem them via the bank portal (e.g. Chase Ultimate Rewards portal, Amex Travel Portal) at a fixed value for any type of travel: flights, hotels, rental cars, etc.
This means that the overall most valuable programs tend to be:
1. Chase Ultimate Rewards Points
2. Amex Membership Rewards Points
3. Citi ThankYou Points
4. Capital One Venture Miles
All of those 4 are transferrable and flexible. Keep in mind that Chase Transfer Partners, Amex Transfer Partners, Citi Transfer Partners, and Capital One Transfer partners have some that overlap and others that are unique.
We’ll also take a look at purely flexible points (i.e. redeem for travel but not via transfer partners) as well as some of the most valuable airline miles and hotel points.
PLUS, we’ll also discuss HOW TO EARN all of these valuable points and miles so you can put together a strategy of your own! And yes, that includes going over some of the best credit cards for travel, which include…
- Chase Sapphire Reserve
- Chase Sapphire Preferred
- Amex Platinum Card
- Amex Gold Card
- Amex Green Card
- U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Card
- Various airline credit cards
- Various hotel credit cards
