Point Value: Make Amex Membership Rewards points worth a minimum of 1.0¢ each for ALL redemption types. American Express offers a variety of ways to redeem. Here are the main ways, plus their current point values: - Cover Your Card Charges (i.e. cash back as a statement credit): 0.6¢ - Pay with Points at Checkout (PayPal): 0.7¢ - Redeem for Gift Cards: 0.5¢ - 1.0¢ - Book or Upgrade Travel: 0.7¢ - 1.0¢ - Transfer Points: Varies - Go Shopping: 0.5¢ Ever wondered how to redeem Amex points for maximum value? That will almost always be via Amex transfer partners (which requires research & a strategic approach in order to make it work well in your favor). That’s definitely not for most people, so following Chase & U.S. Bank to make 1.0¢ per point the standard redemption value (almost) across the board would be awesome. 2. Point Multipliers: Add more (and make them useful). Currently, the Amex Platinum Card earns in the following ways: - 5X Flights: Booked directly w/ airlines or AmexTravel.com | Up to $500K spend per year - 5X Hotels: Prepaid via AmexTravel.com - 1X Other Purchases I propose adding 3X – 5X categories for Entertainment, Gas Stations, and/or Mobile Wallet purchases. 3. $200 Airline Fee Credit: Allow it to be used toward airline tickets & upgrades on ANY AIRLINE. Currently, it only works on a limited number of U.S. Airlines and only for incidental charges. Plus, you can only change your airline once per year in January. 4. $240 Digital Entertainment Credit: Expand to include more options (again). 5. $200 Hotel Credit: Expand to include purchases at Marriott & Hilton. The Platinum Card already offers Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status and Hilton Honors Gold Status. It’d be awesome to see Amex expand their partnership with these 2 brands. 6. $300 Equinox Credit: Expand to cover ALL Equinox purchases. Currently, it only covers “eligible memberships” (All-Access, Destination, E by Equinox) and the digital Equinox+ app membership. 7. Amex Centurion Lounge: Preserve an exclusive, elevated experience. Overcrowding has become a major issue and needs to be solved. 8. Rental Car Insurance: Include complimentary primary coverage. Currently, coverage is secondary with the ability to add primary coverage on a per-trip basis for an additional fee. 🎬 MORE CREDIT CARD VIDEOS 🔹7 BEST Amex Platinum Card Benefits 2022!
