POINTS
You’ll earn credit card rewards points (‘Altitude Points’) at the following rates:
5X Prepaid Hotels (via Altitude Rewards Center)
5X Prepaid Car Rentals (via Altitude Rewards Center)
3X Travel
3X Dining (thru 12/31/2020)
3X Mobile Wallet transactions
1X Everything Else
Here’s what the rewards points are worth:
- 1.0¢ each for cash back
- 1.5¢ each for travel via the portal
As an example…
10,000 points = $100 Cash Back = $150 Travel
NOW…
THE REASON WHY THIS CARD IS SO POWERFUL!
Is because…
Of the ability to earn 3X points on ALL MOBILE WALLET TRANSACTIONS.
That means it doesn’t matter what ‘category’ or ‘merchant’ you’re making your purchase at.
As long as mobile wallet payments are accepted, you’ll earn 3X points!
That’s equivalent to 3% cash back on (nearly) EVERYTHING or 4.5% back on (nearly) EVERYTHING TOWARD TRAVEL!
If the merchant accepts Apple Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay, LG Pay, or Google Pay, you can use this credit card via your phone and earn points VERY quickly!
There are 3 MAIN METHODS TO REDEEM POINTS…
Method 1: Real-Time Rewards gives you instant redemption after you make a purchase. US Bank will send you a text asking if you want to use points to wipe out the transaction via statement credit. Your points will be worth 1.5¢ each if it’s a travel purchase made directly with the travel company. There is a minimum purchase amount for $250 for rental cars and $500 for lodging (e.g. your hotel). You can also use points at 1.0¢ each to cover non-travel purchases (exceptions: gas stations & restaurants).
Method 2: The travel portal allows you to use your points during the booking process. They’ll be worth 1.5¢ each on flights, hotels, etc. Booking via this portal is NOT SUBJECT TO the $250 / $500 minimum requirements for rental cars and lodging, respectively. That limitation is only for Real-Time rewards.
Method 3: Cash back is a good option, too. Just be aware there is a minimum redemption amount of 5,000 points ($50) and you must redeem in increments of 5,000 points ($50, $100, $150, etc.)
The Altitude Reserve card has a $400 annual fee
The SIGNUP BONUS as of September 2020 is 50,000 points after spending $4,500 in the first 90 days. That’s worth $500 cash back or $750 toward travel.
There’s a $325 ANNUAL TRAVEL CREDIT that automatically reimburses you for travel purchases made with airlines, hotels, car rental companies, cruise lines, taxicabs, limousines, and passenger trains.
NOTE: Through 12/31/2020, this $325 credit also covers dining, including: restaurants, takeout and food delivery.
OTHER PERKS INCLUDE…
- Airport lounge access via Priority Pass (limit 4 passes per year, then pay for day passes)
- $100 credit toward TSA Precheck or Global Entry
