Originally, it was a plastic card with a $450 annual fee. From there it became heavier, either a thicker & sturdier plastic or a plastic-metal hybrid, which roughly doubled its weight. Now, it’s a full metal credit card weighing more than ever before (it’s LOUD when you drop it, too!), the annual fee went up to $595, and there are new benefits (including credits that can be earned with Avis & Budget car rentals, Lyft rideshares, and Grubhub). The part that remains unchanged, though, is that it remains the best way to get American Airlines Admirals Club access as well as the Enhanced Airport Experience (which includes priority check-in, security, and boarding where available).
